How Chonk uses AI

AI-assisted tools help develop the website and prepare some written and visual material. Customer-facing use is separate and is identified where it happens. Chonk does not describe an automated answer as a personal reply from a human member of staff.

Chonk and Friends are fictional brand characters. Illustrations, concept images and product mock-ups are not evidence of an individual plant's appearance or condition.

Ask Chonk

Ask Chonk uses OpenAI to interpret a signed-in member's question and optional screenshot, then research public web sources. Recent search context can be included in a follow-up. The notice appears before anything is sent.

Answers are generated automatically, are not individually checked by a person before display and can be incomplete, inaccurate or out of date. They do not verify a seller, certify a plant, reserve stock, set a checkout price or decide anyone's legal rights. External sources and purchases remain with the external website.

Plant-placement mock-ups

On supported pages, a signed-in member can choose to send a prepared photo of their space and a Chonk-defined plant group to OpenAI. The seller's advert photograph is not sent. The result is labelled as an illustrative AI-generated mock-up, not an image of the plant for sale.

A browser-only light check is not AI and does not upload the photo. Chonk does not save the mock-up source or result in its application database or object storage. Provider and hosting security logs are separate, as explained in the Privacy Notice.

Accurate plant listings and images

Existing accuracy and genuine-photo requirements still apply when a seller uses AI. Sellers remain responsible for every claim, including text prepared with AI. A photo presented as the exact plant must show that plant. A permitted representative photo must be clearly identified.

Adding invented variegation, roots, leaves, size, maturity, provenance or health, or concealing pests, disease or damage, would breach the existing requirement not to misrepresent the item. Generated plant images cannot replace genuine product photographs. Ordinary cropping, resizing, compression and accurate exposure correction must not misrepresent the item. This guidance explains the existing Listing Rules; it does not replace or silently amend them.

Genuine reviews

The existing review rules require a reviewer's own genuine experience and prohibit fake or coordinated reviews. AI cannot be used to invent a customer, transaction, rating, endorsement or experience. Language assistance may improve spelling or clarity only when it preserves the real reviewer's meaning and experience. Chonk does not claim that an AI detector can prove a review is false. This guidance explains the existing Seller Review Rules; it does not replace or silently amend them.

Decisions and corrections

The customer-facing AI features described here provide search assistance or an illustration. They do not approve sellers, moderate accounts, move money, decide refunds or release payments. Chonk does not promise that every automated security check or provider process is manually reviewed.

Report a misleading image or inaccurate AI-assisted statement through Help & Contact or email hello@chonkmarket.com. Existing order, complaint, correction and privacy routes remain available without using AI.
