SELLER REVIEW RULES
Real experiences. The full picture.
These rules explain who can leave a completed-exchange review, what that label means, how scores work and when Chonk intervenes.
1. Who can review?
A signed-in buyer may leave one active review for a seller only after both people exchanged messages in the same Chonk conversation, an included advert was marked sold, rehomed or completed, and both buyer and seller separately confirmed that the exchange was complete. That eligibility is recorded once and is not revoked if the advert is relisted or either member later blocks the other. The review must describe the reviewer’s own genuine experience from the last 12 months.
2. What “Completion confirmed by both members” means
The label means both Chonk members used the same message thread and each used the completion control after the advert was marked sold, rehomed or completed. It does not mean Chonk verified payment, purchase, delivery, refund, item condition, handover or every statement in a review.
3. Reviews must be independent
- Do not review yourself, your employer, a close associate or a competing seller where that relationship may bias the review.
- Do not write, request, buy, sell or coordinate a fake review.
- Do not offer or accept money, discounts, freebies, refunds, competition entries or another benefit in exchange for posting, changing or removing a review.
- Do not copy a review or use extra accounts to affect a rating.
4. Keep it useful and safe
Be honest, specific and relevant to the seller experience. Do not include threats, harassment, hate, spam, unlawful material, unsupported allegations presented as fact, or another person’s private contact, payment, health or identity information. Reviews are public; use messages or the Complaints Process for private evidence.
5. How the score works
Chonk displays the arithmetic mean of every published rating for that seller, rounded to one decimal place, alongside the total number of reviews and the complete 5-to-1 distribution. The latest edit replaces the earlier rating. Withdrawn or moderated reviews do not count. Positive reviews are not weighted, promoted or protected more than negative reviews.
6. Editing and withdrawing
The reviewer may edit or withdraw their review. A seller cannot remove a review, make support or a refund conditional on changing it, or pressure a member not to post negative feedback. Chonk may add public seller responses in a later release; until then sellers should use messages for direct resolution and the report route for a rules issue.
7. Reports and moderation
Anyone signed in can report a review from the seller page. Chonk records the review as it appeared at report time, checks the available account and interaction evidence, and applies the same standard to positive and negative content. A disagreement or low rating is not by itself grounds for removal. Chonk may remove fake, concealed-incentivised, irrelevant, abusive, unlawful, privacy-breaching or wrongly attributed reviews and may restrict accounts that misuse the system.
8. Decisions and appeals
Where appropriate, Chonk records a public reason and an internal moderation note. An affected member may use Complaints & Appeals to challenge a decision. A restored review immediately returns to the score and distribution.
9. Reviews are not complaints
A review is an opinion intended for public display. A complaint asks Chonk to investigate content, conduct or a moderation decision. Submitting a complaint does not replace, delay or suppress a genuine review.
